Hår av typ 3 – ofta kallat lockigt hår – ligger mellan vågigt (typ 2) och spiralformat (typ 4) hår. Det har definierade lockar som sträcker sig från lösa öglor till snäva korkskruvar och är indelat i 3A, 3B och 3C baserat på lockarnas täthet.
Lockigt hår (typ 3) har naturligtvis lite glans men kan bli frissigt och torrt om det inte återfuktas ordentligt. Det är en av de vanligaste locktyperna och behöver balanserad återfuktning och stylingprodukter för att hålla lockarna definierade och fylliga.
